Three disciplines. One strong base.
Triathlon puts unique demands across the body — power on the bike, economy on the run, stability in the water. We build a strength and conditioning plan that supports all three without adding to an already packed training week.
Why triathletes need dedicated S&C, not just more volume
Balancing swim, bike and run training already fills most triathletes' weeks, which is exactly why targeted strength work matters — it builds capacity that endurance training alone doesn't, in far less time than adding another swim, bike or run session would. We design a plan around your race calendar and existing training schedule, keeping sessions short, purposeful, and clear of your key sessions so recovery isn't compromised.
What triathlon-specific strength work covers
• Lower-body power for bike output and hill work • Running-specific strength and durability for the run off the bike • Shoulder, upper-back and core stability to support swim technique and reduce shoulder overuse issues • Single-leg strength and tendon loading to handle the combined impact of cycling and running • Core strength for sustained aero and running positions late in a race Sessions are typically twice a week, tapering into race week alongside your usual taper.

Frequently asked questions
How does strength training fit around swim, bike and run training?
We schedule 2 strength sessions a week around your existing training plan, keeping them short and focused so they add capacity without eating into recovery from your swim, bike and run sessions.
Is strength training useful for all three disciplines?
Yes. Strength work improves cycling power output, running economy off the bike, and shoulder/core stability for swimming — while also protecting against the joint and tendon overuse issues common in triathlon training.
I'm training for my first triathlon — is this still relevant?
Definitely. Building a strength base early reduces the injury risk that often derails first-time triathletes as training volume increases across three disciplines at once.
Can you help specifically with the run off the bike?
Yes — we include running-specific strength and durability work aimed at holding running form when your legs are already fatigued from the bike leg.
